Democracy Awakening Panels & Workshops

Democracy Awakening is a great opportunity to get involved in the movement to defend DC from political corruption. The following exciting panels and workshops will be taking place on Saturday:

2:00-2:50: Separate & Unequal: DC’s Renewed Struggle for Voting Rights & Equality
This workshop will discuss the history and emergence of the DC statehood movement as the best path to equality for citizens in DC, and how to continue the gaining momentum it’s had in the US Congress since 2010.

3:00- 3:50: Small Donor Democracy: Bringing a National Movement to District Elections
Presenters Include Congressman John Sarbanes (D-MD) and our own Delvone Michael (Executive Director, DC Working Families) and Ericka Taylor (Executive Director, DC Fair Budget Coalition)!

5pm-5:50pm: State/Local Breakout Sessions
We’ll come together with local activists to discuss the top grassroots priorities in their state or area over the next year for both the Fair Elections and DC statehood campaigns.

Also, at 1 pm Sunday is the main event - the Rally for Democracy - in which thousands will march around the US Capitol, calling for action and solutions to protect people's right to vote and protect their voice from being drowned out by big money!
